The University of Texas is on fire, securing another top-tier verbal commitment for their 2027-2028 swim team! Sadie Buckley, the #3-ranked high school swimmer in the nation, has committed to becoming a Longhorn, marking the team's second top 10 recruit for the class of 2027.
This is a huge win for Texas, as Buckley is an exceptional talent with a bright future ahead. She currently attends Fairfax High School in Virginia and trains with the Nation's Capital Swim Club year-round. Her commitment to Texas is a testament to the program's growing appeal and the hard work of its coaching staff.
But here's where Buckley's story gets even more impressive: her times in the 200 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM would have qualified her for the NCAA Division I Women's Championships last year. That's right, she's already swimming at a collegiate level! And this is just the beginning, as Buckley continues to improve across various events.
At the 2024 U.S. Open, the young phenom won the 400 IM with a time of 4:07.87, placing her 25th on the all-time list for 15-16-year-old girls in the U.S. She also secured third-place finishes in the 200 back and 200 IM, setting personal bests in both events. Her success continued at the 2025 VHSL Class 6 Championships, where she claimed state titles in the 500 free and 200 IM.
Buckley's versatility is on full display, as she consistently lowers her times across various events. At the Potomac Valley Senior Short Course Championships, she achieved new personal records in the 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 fly, and 100 back. She then wrapped up the short-course season at the NCSA Spring Championships with a bang, winning the 500 free, 200 IM, and 400 IM, and placing highly in several other events.
And the accolades don't stop there. Buckley's long-course season was equally impressive, culminating at the Greensboro Futures with personal bests in the 200 free, 100 back, 100 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Her times at this meet would have secured her spots in the 'A' and 'B' finals at the 2025 SEC Championships.
Fitter and Faster Swim Camps, the proud sponsor of SwimSwam's College Recruiting Channel, is thrilled to celebrate Buckley's achievement. They understand the dedication required to pursue a college swimming career and are honored to support these talented athletes.
